About us

Kertész Quartet was formed in 2010 by four period-instrument specialists following a desire to explore chamber music of the eighteenth and early nineteenth centuries and, using historical instruments, bring it to audiences. The quartet combines traditions of central European and historic, period–performance practices. With the use of gut strings and historic bows, the original sound world, liveliness and intensity of the music is revived.

Kertész Quartet's recently released recordings of nineteenth century Czech composer, Wenzel Heinrich Veit's complete string quartets earned high praise from reviewers on international platforms.

The all-female group is relatively new, having established itself in 2010...the players command perfect intonation, rock-solid technique, and a well-rounded, robust sound.  In terms of performance, it’s certainly a very good one, which should recommend the Kertész Quartet in future recordings of more familiar repertoire.
